Mr. Benediktus Yohan Arman
Mr. Arman received his B.Pharm degree in pharmaceutical science from the faculty of Pharmacy, University of Indonesia in 2005. In 2011, Yohan received his M.Biomed degree in biomedical science from the faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia under a scholarship from Novartis pharma company. He has more than 15 years of laboratory research experience during his role as a Senior Research Assistant at the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, Jakarta, Indonesia. His works were mainly on arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) in Indonesia, such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya viruses.
He is currently a DPhil student in the laboratory of Prof. Nicole Zitzmann at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford/Oxford Antiviral Drug Discovery Unit, and a member of St. Hugh's College, Oxford. His study is supported by the Indonesian Education Scholarship (Beasiswa Pendidikan Indonesia) from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbudristek) within a funding scheme from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP).
His current research focuses on the development of novel antiviral drugs for infectious diseases, such as SARS-CoV-2 and dengue viruses. He is also actively involved in the VIE collaborative project that is evaluating devices and developing protocols for screening Substandard/Falsified vaccines in supply chains which includes repurposing of existing technologies as well as exploring the development of additional novel techniques.
