Sneha was a visiting research scholar from India funded by British Council and DST, Govt. of India under Newton Bhabha PhD fellowship programme. Her work looked at the effect of antiviral iminosugars on vascular leakage caused by dengue infection in microvascular endothelial cells in an in vitro model system. Her D.Phil is supervised in India under Dr. E. Sreekumar in Molecular Virology lab, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, India where she works on understanding the role of Angiopoietin pathway in vascular leakage caused by dengue infection.

 

Sneha has a B.Sc (Hons.) in Microbiology from University of Calcutta, India and a master in Applied Microbiology from KIIT University, India. During her masters, she had participated in CSIR sponsored OSDD (Open Source Drug Discovery) programme with Dr. Avinash Sonawane’s group to work on cloning and expression of glmU gene to find drug targets against M. tuberculosis in KIIT School of Biotechnology, KIIT University, India.  Her final year project in masters was with Dr. Atanu Basu, National Institute of Virology, Pune, India to study the effect of starvation and selective blockade of beta oxidation on the replication of dengue 2 virus in an insect cell line.

 

Before joining for her D.Phil programme, she was enrolled as an intern with Dr. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay’s group in University of Calcutta, India to look into the interaction of N, L and P protein of Chandipura virus.
