Constantina Fotinou

Constantina was a structural biologist with emphasis on X-ray crystallography. Her favourite protein family was membrane proteins. She was part of the group's sub-team which focused on structural and functional studies of the p7 viroporin of Hepatitis C virus. Electron microscopy and native mass spectrometry are two complementary approaches which she used in her efforts to understand the structure of the p7 protein. In collaboration with Dr. Martin Dalziel in the Glycobiology Institute of Oxford University, she worked on the development of antibodies, which recognise the p7 protein, using phage display technology.
